Baptism
July 28, 2019 was a special day as four new believers were baptized in Amagasaki church. What a blessing it was to hear their testimonies and see them declare their faith in Jesus. My 74- year-old English student, Tsuyoshi, invited his two sons and their families to witness this special occasion in his life and they all came. Along with Tsuyoshi, three women were also baptized. As I listened to their testimonies, I was encouraged by the way that God deals with each individual very personally and draws them to himself in unique ways. Please pray that these four new church members will continue to grow in their faith and that they will be rooted and built up in Christ and overflowing with thankfulness.
Summer vacation
My English students had the month of August off and I was able to spend that time in Winnipeg with family and friends. I especially enjoyed the cooler and drier temperatures there and the opportunities to be outdoors. It was refreshing and by the end I was ready to return to Japan.

English classes resumed at the beginning of September and it was good to see my students again. They were eager to hear about my time in Canada and I enjoyed hearing about their summers as well. Please pray that God will continue to use the English class ministry to draw Japanese people to himself. I’m pleased that two former students have decided to return to my classes and last week a new student also joined one class.
On the horizon
From October 15 to 20 I will be attending the Multiply Asia Summit near Bangkok, Thailand. This is a gathering that takes places once every three years for all long-term Multiply workers in Asia. It is a good time to connect with other workers as well as office staff and to hear what God is doing in Asia through Multiply. Pray for safe travels and health, as well as good times of fellowship, learning and hearing from the Lord.
Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support for the ministry in Japan. I am so grateful for your participation in bringing the gospel to Japanese people.
