A Message from the Heidebrechts

We are in the beginning stages of a missional initiative in BC and we believe this begins with prayer and repentance.

In our research about the relationship with the Sikh community in BC, we learned that early on when Punjabi people arrived in the particular area we are living in, there was racism at a systemic level.  We have wondered about the spiritual ground that was established and how the Punjabi community experienced the church?  Did this set in motion a divide between our community and the Punjabi community? We have heard people ask questions about why it has been so hard to plant a church in this area?  We would ask for prayer that the walls that have existed within the community come down and that people who God calls to reach out to their neighbours find the courage that compels each of us to share the love of Christ.

We also want to ask for prayer for brother in the Punjab who has felt a call to come to Canada to serve here.  We are praying that the Lord will provide a visa to come on a vision trip to discern further what this might look like.

Thank you,

Sherry & Doug Heidebrecht
