Stories from SOAR SASK - Child of God

It is about 2 months since SOAR SASK wrapped up! We had an amazing time with just over 80 participants and many more volunteers throughout the 10 days of the program.

One of the ways that God provided for the program was that Terri’s mother took time off work to help take care of our 4 kids for much of the 10 days. As parents our heart was to include our kids as much as possible in the SOAR community, but we also knew that we would be very busy especially because it was our first time coordinating SOAR. That being said, we still had our oldest daughter Piper (6 years old) with us for about half of the 10 evenings.

Piper loves God and being around people, and this is why one of her favorite parts of SOAR is the worship time that the entire community of SOAR gathers for every evening. So, you can imagine how excited she felt when one day towards the end of program she was invited to practice with the band. The band went on to include her in the last two evening worship sets, letting her have her own microphone!

We heard from many people what a blessing it was to see her sing and worship God from the front, particularly as the band sang the song “Child of God” and she closed her eyes and lifted her hands as she sang.

As parents this was one of our biggest highlights from SOAR SK.  Having the opportunity to witness our daughter be invited into discipleship by the worship band and watch her worship, lead, and experience the presence of Jesus in such a significant way is something that we will always hold near to our hearts.
